Status Update!

The WIP turned out to be much more of a project than I initially anticipated. I plan to get back to it after C&D2.

C&D2 is what I’m presently working on, and–while I know I’ve said this before–this time I intent to finish it, God willing. I know you’ve all been waiting long enough.

Signal Boost: Babylon Blues (and an update!)

A fellow writer and friend of mine is running a Kickstarter for a short story anthology.

Babylon Blues is a unique mix of cyberpunk and Lovecraftian horror–a series of police procedurals in a post-apocalyptic city-state of war, crime, and false gods. The Kickstarter has links to some of the short stories–I can’t really do it justice with words.

So go check it out!

In personal writing news, I’m still hoping to get my current WIP finished before the end of the year, and then it’s back to C&D!

Middle of August Status Update!

TL;DR: Life is continuing to happen. In fact, this has been a very rough year for me.

Relatedly, I burned out on C&D2 not once, but multiple times. In fact, for a couple weeks I was so burned out on every form of writing I wrote nothing whatsoever.

But currently, things are getting better! I am still recovering from the last C&D2 burnout, and I am presently working on a different project. So…

The bad news: C&D2 is probably not going to happen this year.

The good news: I am rapidly working on a new project. I don’t want to give any hard and fast dates, but it’s coming along!

What is this new project? Still a secret, but it’s a similar style to C&D, although it’s not a LitRPG and it’s WAAAAY darker. Somewhere in the NA range.

After it, I intend to finish C&D2, this time with a much happier attitude towards writing and success, and then we’ll probably be going between the two series for a while. But right now, I’m concentrating on getting this new project finished without burning out on it, too.

End of February Progress Update!

Unfortunately–get this–life has continued to happen. I’m still planning to get C&D2 out before the end of the year, darn it!

Meanwhile, The City and the Dungeon is now available in delightful hardcover form, through IngramSpark! A bunch of typos and the like are also fixed. (You can buy said hardcover on Amazon, if not elsewhere.)

End of Year Progress Update!

So what’s been happening?

I’ve decided to focus mostly on C&D2 for the time being. Ushabti Online and Seven Princedoms are shelved for the moment, unfortunately. My secret project, briefly alluded to, is not shelved, but due to logistical issues you won’t be seeing it for a while.

What does this leave for next year?

Hopefully, C&D2, which y’all have been waiting so patiently for. Also in the works are a young adult apocalyptic fantasy and maybe another project or two. But first things first, C&D2.

Beginning of October Status Update

I have been writing, ding dang it!

Unfortunately, it hasn’t been in either (A) things I’ve finished or (B) things I can talk about just yet.

So…

C&D2: Still no progress.

Ushabti Online: Not enough progress. I realized I couldn’t finish it before the end of the year, and I was still a little burnt out on it. Which led to…

Seven Princedoms: (working title) A sort of MOBA LitRPG. Some progress, but not enough to finish it before my next progress post. I still hope to finish it before the end of the year.

Secret Project E: Lots of progress, but it’s not the time to talk about it.

Once again, I’m sorry that you’ve all been on a cliffhanger, but my life and writing career just didn’t agree on the specifics. Hopefully, next update, I’ll have something to at least announce.

End of August Status Update

So, what’s been happening in all my radio silence?

Unfortunately, not much. C&D2 is on hold for a bit, because real life events began resembling story events too much, and I don’t mean my heart was replaced by a magical stone that granted me quasi-immortality. Which would be pretty rad and all, but no. I can’t really go into more details, except that it will probably be next year. 😦

Ushabti Online before the end of the year. That doesn’t mean it will be out this year, but hopefully I will have something to show for all of this.

Sorry it’s been taking so long, but little has been going to plan this year.

End of May Status Update

I was actually planning to keep my progress secret, so as not to stir up hopes. Thing is, getting a first draft of a novel done is usually only part of the progress. Also, life events have been greatly slowing my progress in general.

But, since you asked…

Ushabti Online: approx 25k words into the first draft.

C&D2: Approx 6k words into the first draft.

That’s right, I am working on the sequel to The City and the Dungeon right now. It’s just that, due to various logistical constraints I can’t go into, I can only work on it part time with Ushabti Online. Again, I initially planned to just say nothing until something was complete, but I realized that wasn’t quite fair. So here it is.

That all said, I can’t guarantee any particular release date, especially one within this year. Things in my personal life just haven’t agreed.
