Beginning of October Status Update

I have been writing, ding dang it!

Unfortunately, it hasn’t been in either (A) things I’ve finished or (B) things I can talk about just yet.

So…

C&D2: Still no progress.

Ushabti Online: Not enough progress. I realized I couldn’t finish it before the end of the year, and I was still a little burnt out on it. Which led to…

Seven Princedoms: (working title) A sort of MOBA LitRPG. Some progress, but not enough to finish it before my next progress post. I still hope to finish it before the end of the year.

Secret Project E: Lots of progress, but it’s not the time to talk about it.

Once again, I’m sorry that you’ve all been on a cliffhanger, but my life and writing career just didn’t agree on the specifics. Hopefully, next update, I’ll have something to at least announce.

End of August Status Update

So, what’s been happening in all my radio silence?

Unfortunately, not much. C&D2 is on hold for a bit, because real life events began resembling story events too much, and I don’t mean my heart was replaced by a magical stone that granted me quasi-immortality. Which would be pretty rad and all, but no. I can’t really go into more details, except that it will probably be next year. 😦

Ushabti Online before the end of the year. That doesn’t mean it will be out this year, but hopefully I will have something to show for all of this.

Sorry it’s been taking so long, but little has been going to plan this year.

End of May Status Update

I was actually planning to keep my progress secret, so as not to stir up hopes. Thing is, getting a first draft of a novel done is usually only part of the progress. Also, life events have been greatly slowing my progress in general.

But, since you asked…

Ushabti Online: approx 25k words into the first draft.

C&D2: Approx 6k words into the first draft.

That’s right, I am working on the sequel to The City and the Dungeon right now. It’s just that, due to various logistical constraints I can’t go into, I can only work on it part time with Ushabti Online. Again, I initially planned to just say nothing until something was complete, but I realized that wasn’t quite fair. So here it is.

That all said, I can’t guarantee any particular release date, especially one within this year. Things in my personal life just haven’t agreed.

The City and the Dungeon is on Kindle Scout!1!!

How’s this for a progress announcement?

Finally, finally, finally, I can reveal what I’ve been working on all this time. A Kindle Scout campaign for The City and the Dungeon!

Kindle Scout, for the unaware, is Amazon’s trad publishing submissions system. Basically, one campaigns for nominations for thirty days and thirty nights, Amazon decides by whatever inexplicable process they like, and if they buy the rights, everyone who nominated it gets a free copy. Otherwise, nothing happens, and everyone goes on their merry way.

Which is where you come in, dear readers. By nominating my book, you might not only receive a free copy, but you’ll be helping there to be a free copy in the first place!

For those who have entirely forgotten about my book in meantime, here is the original post. In short, it’s my homage to the CRPGs and roguelikes of my youth.

So what are you waiting for? DO IT. DO IT. DOOO EEEIIIITTTT!!!

Tales of the Once and Future King

I’m in an anthology! Go buy it!

…OK, you want more information. Fine.

Tales of the Once and Future King is a hybrid between a novel and an anthology. This anthnovology consists of the main frame story, about the new King Arthur in a post-apocalyptic future, interspersed with other authorian stories. One is written by yours truly, Matthew P. Schmidt.

What’s my story called? Tristan and Isolde: A Chivalric Tragedy with Giant Steampunk Battle Robots (also vampires). The name should be self-explanatory.
